Daniel Leaf
Head of Research

Daniel was most recently head of investments at Bank of Scotland Portfolio Management Service, where he was responsible for investment strategy for the Group’s discretionary wealth management customers. Previously he spent almost 25 years in institutional stock broking as a managing director at Deutsche Bank, and subsequently set up an Edinburgh office for Teather and Greenwood. He started his career in stock broking as an analyst at Wood Mackenzie, where he helped its research team in the Brewing Sector achieve the industry’s top ranking from institutional clients.

Despite living in Scotland for over twenty years – and recognising the thankless nature of the pursuit – Daniel has remained a loyal, and slightly obsessive, follower of Tottenham Hotspur.

James C Fisher
Executive Chairman

Jim established Saracen Fund Managers Ltd in 1997, and remains a major shareholder in the company. He has 35 years of experience in the investment management industry and a successful track record in managing money. He also formed a previous asset management business in 1993, SFM Investment Management Ltd, and launched Saracen Value Investment Trust PLC on the stockmarket. SFM was successfully sold prior to the launch of Saracen Fund Managers.

Despite his advancing maturity, Jim retains his youthful outlook, thanks in no small part to his young son.

Graham H Campbell
Chief Executive Officer

Graham is a major shareholder in Saracen, having joined from Edinburgh Partners, where he was one of the founding partners and director. Prior to this he was head of retail funds at SWIP. Before SWIP, Graham spent ten years with Edinburgh Fund Managers, where he was a director. Previously, he worked for National Mutual and General Accident after beginning his career with Campbell Neill (stockbrokers) in 1982.

Although in the twilight of his sporting career, Graham remains actively involved in Judo, where he was a former Commonwealth medalist.

Dr John C Spence
Compliance Director

Dr John C Spence, affectionately known as Ian, was a general medical practitioner in the East End of Glasgow for 30 years, until early retirement in 2009. He joined Jim on the board of Saracen Fund Managers in 1998, and took on the role of Compliance Director on a part time basis.

Now retired from medicine, Ian finds more time for Saracen, as well as his music, DIY, golf, gardening and – occasionally – himself.

Janette R Thorburn
Chief Operations Officer

Janette has worked with Jim since 1997, helping him and Ian establish Saracen Fund Managers. Having worked in banking previously, Janette’s role within Saracen has expanded as the company and Saracen Growth Fund have grown, and she has responsibilities for both the operation of Saracen and the administration and marketing of its funds.

When Janette is lucky enough to take a holiday, she can be found in foreign climes, enjoying the sun and a good book.

Chris Howard
Sales Director

Chris joined Saracen in 2011 from Insynergy Investment Management, where he promoted their range of funds to the discretionary marketplace. Prior to this he was a sales manager with River and Mercantile Asset Management. Chris has also spent time at Skandia Investment Management and Credit Suisse Asset Management, where he built their broker desk and client service functions for the retail business.

In his spare time, Chris spends most weekends acting as a taxi service to his young son, ferrying him around to various clubs/parties. If he finds a spare hour, Chris can be seen sporting lycra astride his bike on the roads near his home in Essex.

Craig H Yeaman
Investment Director

Craig joined Saracen in June 2008 from Aberdeen Asset Management. Craig started his career in the investment industry in 1999, when he joined Clydesdale Bank’s Portfolio Management Unit as an analyst. From there, he moved to Glasgow Investment Managers in 2001 as an investment manager, where he was deputy manager of both Shires Income PLC and Shires Smaller Companies PLC Investment Trusts. In August 2007, following their takeover of GIM, Craig transferred to Aberdeen Asset Management.

Craig is the team’s most active sporting participant and spectator, and is a keen bowler.
